OUTREACH & COLLABORATIONS 2006-2007
FIRELANDS ASSOCIATION FOR THE VISUAL ARTS
The MAD* Factory and FAVA teamed up once again to offer the public a free day of fun at the New Union Center for the Arts Halloween Open House. Activities included: pumpkin carving, fishing for treats, story theatre and a performance of "Frankenstein's Day Out" by The MAD* Factory Players. The two organizations also collaborated on a spring puppet class featuring Dr. Seuss's "If I Ran the Circus" and in creating mythological creatures in the art portion of the summer's MAD* Camp.
OBERLIN EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER
The MAD* Factory and OECC offered a full year of after school programming to their school age Rainbow Room kids ages 5-10. The students learned a variety of improvisational exercises as well as on writing and dramatizing their own performances pieces.
SAVE OUR CHILDREN, ELYRIA
The MAD* Factory and Save Our Children offered a full year of programming for the Teen Youth Council. Students learned a variety of improvisational exercises designed to create respect, bolster self-esteem and foster good public speaking skills.
THE LINDEN SCHOOL
The MAD* Factory and the Linden School offered an intergenerational year of story theatre classes. This really fun and successful partnership paired senior citizens with the school’s 3-5 year olds.
KIDDIE KOUNTRY
The MAD* Factory was asked to participate in Kidsmart on the Road with a spring semester of story theatre classes at Kiddie Kountry in North Ridgeville.
BUNNICULA
The MAD* Factory offered free performances in 5 different locations in keeping with their mission to make public access to the performing arts available to all.
ONCE UPON A MATTRESS
The MAD* Factory offered 6 free performances to the public at Oberlin High School’s Brubaker Auditorium.
FAMILY FUN FAIR
The MAD* Factory participated with the Oberlin Chamber of Commerce sponsored event by providing musical entertainment on the lawn of the beautiful New Union Center for the Arts.

JUNETEENTH
On June 18, 2004, The MAD* Factory's interactive booth provided guests
with an arts table that included facepainting and paper bag hats.
FIRELANDS ASSOCIATION FOR THE VISUAL ARTS
The MAD* Factory and FAVA teamed up once again to offer our third-annual
two-week video film making camp for students ages 8-14. Made possible
in part by a generous grant from the Vanek Family Fund of the Community
Foundation of Greater Lorain County, students received instruction on
many techniques for creating their own unique video vignettes, which
premiered on August 17, 2004 for family and friends at the New Union
Center for the Arts.
ERIE SHORES GIRL SCOUT TROUPE
On September 29, 2004, The MAD* Factory provided a beginning improv
workshop for 22 3rd grade Girl Scouts. The troupe earned their "pretend"
badge by participating in beginning acting and improvisational exercises
and games that explored creating a character.
PROJECT GRAD LORAIN
In October The MAD* Factory will begin collaboration with Project Grad
Lorain, working with 30 students from Southview High School in Lorain
to create a rhythmic drumming and dance performance with spoken word
for an anti-smoking campaign to open at various assemblies at Lorain
Elementary schools.

On June 14, 2003, The MAD* Factory booth provided guests with an arts
table that included facepainting and paper bag hats.
FAMILY FUN FAIR
On August 2, 2003, The MAD* Factory entertained many members of the
community with excerpts of scenes and songs from their summer production
of "HONK!"
FIRELANDS ASSOCIATION FOR THE VISUAL ARTS
As part of our ongoing collaboration, The MAD* Factory and FAVA teamed
up to offer a two-week video film making camp for students ages 7-14.
Made possible in part by a generous grant from the Vanek Family Fund
of the Community Foundation of Greater Lorain County, students received
instruction on many techniques for creating their own unique video vignettes,
which premiered on November 7, 2003 in the FAVA Gallery.
MEISTER ROAD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
The MAD* Factory assisted Meister Elementary with improvisational workshops
for it's fledling after-school drama club which is host to more than
thirty students ages 9-11, many of whom come from extreme poverty.
HEAD START OF LORAIN COUNTY
On November 22, 2003, The MAD* Factory provided more than 55 students
ages 4 & 5 with three one hour workshops focusing on the Ashanti
Tales of West Africa featuring the Tales of Anansi, the Spider.
CLEVELAND PLAYHOUSE
In January 2004, The MAD* Factory once again teamed up with the Cleveland
Playhouse to provide the popular course in screenplay writing. Students
in this intensive workshop worked on writing short sitcoms and commercials
that were used in our spring semester class of Acting for the Camera
II.
HARRISON CULTURAL CENTRE
Beginning in February 2004, The MAD* Factory and Harrison Cultural Centre
teamed up once again to offer MAD* classes in "Don't Label Me,"
Young Actors, and Intermediate Improv. Harrison was also host to March
5th's MAD* Factory performance on "Sideways Stories from Wayside
School." The classroom were we performed was absolutely packed
with children and adults, some of whom had never seen a live play before!
ELYRIA PUBLIC LIBRARY
The West River Branch of the Elyria Public Library hosted the February
28th performance of "Sideways Stories from Wayside School."
The conference room was packed and the collaboration deemed such a success
that we have been invited back anytime we have anything appropriate
to share.
BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF LORAIN COUNTY
Beginning in March 2004, The MAD* Factory provided an 8 week Comedy
Improv program to students ages 8-11 at the Boys and Girls Club.
