  • CLASSES and WINTER SHOW (9/23/2015)

Hey all you MAD* Supporters! We are starting classes this week and are very excited. I love seeing the same students come back year after year and seeing them grow. I think theater helps them to face so much in life. There are many students I have had year after year who are now going off to college. We are so lucky to have such an amazing population. Here are some articles about why drama class is good for you. Enjoy!

  • Fall Class Update (11/18/2014)

Our fall semester is coming along swimmingly!!! We have such a talented, fun loving group of students!

Our Young Actors I class has been working hard on their songs for “Anansi and The Moss Covered Rock”. It’s amazing how loud 6 kids can sing!! In class they created the cutest hand puppets. We are performing the puppet play outside the confines of a puppet theater so that the students may also practice using their facial expressions as well as their skills as puppeteers!

Our Young Actors II class is a very talented group. They are a ball to watch and a joy to listen to. They have so much fun playing all of the different animals in “Coyote Steals the Summer”. They are fast learning their lines and lyrics and will soon be ready for their big performance!

Our Improv I class is a very giggly group. They are so much fun to watch! It is amazing how open they are in scenes to take whatever curve balls the instructors throw at them. It is a wonderful group and I hope they all continue to take improv and grow in their comedic skills!

Our Advanced Scene Study class has been working so hard!  As a class we started off with the same scene and did script analysis together. We then broke off into scene partners and they tested what they learned. Each student has two scenes to work on and they are doing great! I am so proud of them. They are very open to direction and trying out different crazy approaches to the scenes. They are all hard workers and I cannot wait to see them in performance!

Our Homeschool class is having a blast with”The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon”.  They are a very funny and talented group of kids. It is a very challenging script in that they all play at least 3 characters but they are pulling it off like champions! This show is sure to be a blast.

We are getting things all ready for our performance of “A Christmas Doll”. It is our first ever Christmas play and we are very excited! We were able to get 10 talented adults and teens to volunteer their time to be in the show and we are having a great time in rehearsals. We hope you all will bring out the entire family!

We are also getting things all ready for our winter show auditions (Dec. 6 from 1:00-5:00) and next semesters class schedule. We hope you will all be back again to play with us! Thanks for an amazing semester!!!!!

  • Whooo! HoooFall Classes (9/3/2014)

    Young MAD* Ages 4&5
    Thursdays September 25th-December 4th
    4-5PM
    Tuition:$80
Come play with us! In this class we will explore beginning acting through games and activities chosen to develop and encourage creative expression, listening skills, and self-confidence. We will explore different stories each week with acting, arts and crafts and games! This class is a lot of fun for both shy and outgoing children.

    Young Actors ages 6&7
    Mondays September 22nd-December 1st
    5:30-6:30PM
    Tuition:$165
Have fun pretending and performing! In this class students will work in a short script titled “Anansi and the Moss Covered Rock.” Based on a West African tale, it’s the story of a very tricky spider who discovers a magic rock that he uses to steal food from all the jungle inhabitants. The last laugh is on Anansi, of course, but not before everyone has a chance to sing some fun songs about yams, dancing mangos, and Anansi’s mischief. We will also create our own puppets to share the stage with us! Songs, games, new friendships, and acting exercises to develop creativity and self confidence round out this class.

    Young Actors II ages 8&9
    Thursdays September 25th-December 4th
    6:30-8PM
    Tuition:$165
Come have fun pretending and performing with friends as we rehearse a play called “Coyote Steals the Summer.” Once it was winter all the time…summer was trapped in a bag inside a tipi at the snow’s edge (a very, very long long way from here). This Native American tale tells how Coyote brings summer to the world and earns his famous gift of trickery as a reward. A very fun way to sing and act with friends!

    Silent Film ages 10-12
    Mondays September 22nd-December 1st
    6:30-8PM
    Tuition:$165
Silent film is a great art form that is really fun to try! In this class students will learn about the aspects that make up a silent film by watching examples old and new, and then create their own script, soundtrack, and final product from scratch. Students will act in the film as well, a great exercise in using your face and body expressions as an actor!

    Comedy Improv I ages 8-11
    Tuesdays September 23rd-December 2nd
    5:30-6:30PM
    Tuition:$165
If you love to laugh and want to try your hand at being on stage, come check out our comedy improv class! We will learn some basic “rules of improv” to help us get started and then play lots of different games that are fun, help you think on your feet, and are a great way to get in front of an audience.

    Comedy Improv II ages 12-18
    Tuesdays September 23rd-December 2nd
    6:30-8:30PM
    Tuition:$165
Everyone has fun in our most popular class! Improv is a great experience for actors and non-actors alike, and we will focus on aspects of comedy such as characters, relationships, and physical movement. Different games each week add variety, and the ground rules we will follow lay a great foundation for an easy understanding of improv. No experience necessary, come and have fun!

    Advanced Scene Study ages 14-18
    Wednesdays September 24th-December 3rd
    6:30-8:30PM
    Tuition:$165
In this class we will do intense study of two to three person scenes, to be performed at the end of the semester. We will start the class all analyzing exact same scene together as a class, and then break off into pairs to work on separate scenes. Our main focus will be creating relationships on stage through an organic scene process. This is a great opportunity for those students wanting to develop their acting skills further!

The Christmas Doll by Joan Cushing; ages 13-18
    Sundays September 21st-December 7th, 1-4PM (no class September 28th)
Dress rehearsals evenings of December 10/11, Performances December 12/13/14.
    Tuition:$165

No audition necessary, just sign up and come act with us! Set in 1840’s London, Lucy and Glory Wolcott live in an orphan workhouse with a cruel matron. Lucy invents stories about a family she barely remembers and a long lost doll named Morning Glory to humor her sister. When the sisters escape to the streets of London, they encounter many colorful characters and must learn to survive on their own. Finding an old doll that Glory believes is her long lost doll, and teaming up with a beggar named Nick Button, Morning Glory leads the three on a journey that will change their lives forever. Come have fun singing, acting, and creating what is sure to be a family-favorite play!

    Homeschool: Putting on a Play
    Tuesdays September 23rd-December 2nd
    12:30-2:30, ages 8-13
    Tuition:$165

Extra! Extra! Babe Vanishes! Paul Bunyan Vows to Find blue ox!
Babe’s disappearance is a BIG mystery—he’s so large that a crow once got lost flying between his horns! Now Paul Bunyan — with the help of Bess Call, the strong-armed, cattle-friendly heroine of the Adirondacks — is criss-crossing America in search of his missing companion. This play has songs, humor, and appearances from many famous legends of American folktales. A great way to learn while getting creative on stage!
