Details for MAD* Camp At Home
*Accepting campers ages 6 through 14*
On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of each week, campers will sign on to Zoom for group check ins and then we will assign them to their breakout rooms/smaller groups by age range. In those rooms they will work with their counselors on warm ups, games, and preparing short monologues (youngest ages) and play scripts for a video perfomance (performance details TBA). Campers, depending on age, will be on Zoom for anywhere between 1.5-2.5 hours per day, between 10 and 12:30. Our counselors will be switching up activities, getting kids moving, and making every effort to keep kids from just staring at the screen the whole time. This will be FUN! More details will be shared with registrants as we get a feel for ages of and number of participants.
On Tuesday and Thursday of each week, campers will NOT sign on to Zoom but we will send out links to videos prepared by our counselors, spanning different topics from acting to games and songs to friendship bracelets, plus an art project. They can watch these videos whenever is convenient.
Materials: Each camper will pick up a camp kit with supplies such as plaster, paint, duct tape, lanyard, popsicle sticks, character worksheets, scripts, and other things needed to bring MAD* camp home.
Camp may not be in person, but we believe there are still friendships and memories to be made. The show must go on!

Elizabeth Baker is incredibly excited to be returning as a counselor to MAD* Camp!! She’s been doing shows and classes with the MAD* Factory for the past eleven years, most recently being in the ensemble of Mamma Mia, and this is her fourth year being a part of MAD* Camp. She’s a rising sophomore at the Cleveland Institute of Art, where she’s pursuing Illustration.
Nina is originally from the Philadelphia area and has been living in Oberlin ever since graduating from Oberlin Conservatory of Music in 2008 with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education. She started at The MAD* Factory as a stage manager while still in college and has been the Program Director here for 11 years. Nina plays the piano and accompanies the choirs at Firelands and Lorain high schools.
Born and raised in Northeast Ohio, Amber is a proud graduate of the Baldwin Wallace Musical Theatre Program, class of 2005. Amber has performed in numerous shows throughout Lorain County and beyond, and loves sharing her love of theatre with all the students that come through The MAD* Factory!
Isabel is a rising third-year at Oberlin College, originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan. She is studying Psychology with a concentration in Education. She grew up loving theater and the community it creates, and she is so excited to be working with The MAD Factory for the first time!
WE RECOMMEND: Signing in to camp on a LAPTOP OR DESKTOP as opposed to a tablet or phone. This will optimize the experience although it is not required.
We are planning to set up a Google Classroom for communication outside of the Zoom hours.
Not only is this our first time offering camp registration and payment completely online, having virtual camp is a brand new experience for all of us and changes will be made every step of the way, probably up until we start the camp! We appreciate you willing to come on this adventure with us and be flexible and a part of the learning process.
If you are enrolling multiple children, each additional camper is $25 off the original price. We are hoping to have an option on the website for this shortly, but feel free to contact us with payments/registration options for multiple campers.
Normaly, our policy is if a student qualifies for free or reduced meals at school, they also qualify for a scholarship for classes or camps. Given the outstanding circumstances in this particular year, we are accepting scholarship requests outside of the free/reduced meals guidelines. Please fill out the information below if you would like to be contacted about receiving a camp scholarship (minus $25 registration fee).
