Amber Michalak, Acting Executive Director
Born and raised in Northeast Ohio, Amber is a proud graduate of the Baldwin Wallace Musical Theatre Program, class of 2005. Amber has performed in numerous shows throughout Lorain County and beyond, and loves sharing her love of theatre with all the students that come through The MAD* Factory!
Nina Fisher, Program Director
Nina is originally from the Philadelphia area and has been living in Oberlin ever since she graduated from Oberlin Conservatory in 2008 with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education. She started at The MAD* Factory as a stage manager while still in college and has been the Program Director here for 11 years. Nina plays the piano and accompanies the choirs at Firelands, Vermilion, and Lorain high schools.
Teaching Artist: Sarah Lynne Bailey
A graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College, Sarah Lynne has a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre with a focus in Arts Management. She has worked as a theatre artist across Northeast Ohio, having previously served as Resident Stage Manager for Dobama Theatre and Cleveland Public Theatre. She has also worked with Blank Canvas Theatre, the Academy for the Performing Arts and many more. Recently, Sarah Lynne has been bringing a long-time dream to life; she and her partner/husband Doug have co-founded Theatre Agápe, an inclusive community of theatre artists devoted to putting our service where our art is. When not in the theatre (and sometimes in the theatre) Sarah Lynne spends her time with her children Desmond, Taso and Matilda. She couldn’t be happier to be working with the innovative MAD* Factory Theatre Co!
Teaching Artist : Anakarine Solorzano
Anakarine Solorzano is a native of Caracas, Venezuela. She has taught music, English, and Spanish at different levels and has two masters degrees in music and library science. She enjoys spending time with her children, husband, and cats. She cooks, knits and is an avid science fiction movie and television fan.
Teaching Artist: Hiatt Hernon
Hiatt Hernon, 26, is a multimedia artist, performer, and MAD Factory alumni from Lorain, Ohio. A graduate from Ohio University’s Honors Tutorial College in the field of media arts & studies, he’s worked with FireFish in Lorain and Maelstrom Collaborative Arts in Cleveland, as well as performing independently across southern Ohio under the musical pseudonym marker 1. Hiatt spent the bulk of middle and high school doing comedy improv at the MAD Factory in Oberlin, and is excited to explore and share the world of collaborative comedy further.
Class Assistant and Director: Darcie Zudell
Darcie Zudell (she/her) is a senior at Vermilion High School. At the high school she has been an active member of the theatre and music department. This previous summer, she volunteered as a camp counselor and assistant director for Harbor Town Fine Arts production of Mary Poppins. She is a member of the MAD* Factory Youth Board and has acted in plays with them for the past four years. Following graduation, Darcie plans on attending Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism in the fall.
Classroom Assistant: Doratea Crunk
Téa grew up in Culver City, California and moved to Ohio for college. She is currently a second year at Oberlin College studying psychology (with potential minors in math and philosophy) and loves spending time with students at The MAD Factory!
Classroom Assistant: Alana Blumenstein
Born in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Alana is a current fourth year at Oberlin College, majoring in Creative Writing with a concentration in Education Studies. Along with her siblings, she runs KidsRead2Kids, a nonprofit encouraging literacy, and she loves working with kids at the Mad Factory!
Classroom assistant: Breena Katz
Breena has been taking classes at MAD since she was 6. She also has been a junior counselor at MAD camp. She enjoys soccer, running, nature, singing lessons with Amber and acting. She is also a part of the youth advisory board at MAD*.
